when I was using it the other day (with AC adapter), it suddenly lost power and refused to turn on again. I switched to another adapter, with or without the battery back, got the same result, the AC indicator LED never lit.
Since it is already out of warranty, so I opened it up to see what's going on there. it seems that the problem is with the motherboard: if I press really hard on the motherboard, the AC indicator may lit, and actually I can power on the machine and enter the OS, but if I release and tap slightly on the board, it loses power again. I took the whole motherboard out and just can not see any visible damage (I used to handle the laptop with care).
The tablet has been under normal use for around 2 years, I am thinking of getting a refurbished motherboard from ebay, which will cost me a little bit more than $300 (if I can find a suitable part).
Now I took the harddrive out and put it in a x60s (it is abused a lot by my wife, but still going strong) and the OS (win7pro) works after a few reboots.
bottom line: buy 3 year warranty if you really want to use it for 3 years.
