X61T LCD vs X200T LCD & Battery

Hello,

I got a used X61T with multi touch off of ebay and I'm not happy with the LCD or the battery, especially compared to my X61s

The screen is not as bright and "white" looks more "yellow" than my X61s.

One more thing - with the 4cell, I get a little over an hour of battery life under what I consider normal use (surfing the web w/wifi) when I expect to get double that.

From what I understand, this isn't unusual for the X61T.

So, I'm debating whether to upgrade to the X200T w/o multitouch (Find a model with the LED background)

From what I've seen in the TABOOKs, the X61t w/ multi touch comes in at 150nits.
The X200T CCFL is at 190
the X200T LED is at 285.

Will the X200T at 190 be any better than the X61T?
How nice is the X200T LED?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

You can always get a color calibrator if you're not satisfied with the color, or use a color adjuster to make the colors more white.
Warmer(yellower) colors usually looks more natural for photo/print viewing. The standard color temperature for photos is 6500K, as well as print.

Sounds like you need a new CCFL in your X61t. An old worn out CCFL is dimmer and more yellow than a new. It's a bit tricky, but very cheap replacement (~10$).
Also, the LCD's used in tablets are of much higher quality than those used in the non-tablets. I changed the display in my X61s to a tablet display and I can tell you there's a world of difference.

Your battery could also be worn out. Check in the battery info in Power Manager how much of the original capacity your battery can hold. If your battery is as old as that CCFL, my guess is that a new 8cell would increase your battery life at least 4 times.

I have a x61t with multitouch. With fresh new battery, I got 5.5 hours with 8 cell, and 2 hours with 4 cell. After almost three years, my 8 cell gives 3 hours, 4 cell gives 1.5 hours of good use.

I think the older x61t screens had yellow orange-ish tint to it. I got my screen replaced by the depot, and it's no longer yellow.

It also might depend on what kind of screen you have. If you have an SXGA+ (1400x1050) screen, changes are that it is also a BoeHydis IPS (or AFFS or similar) screen which should have better color reproduction. Many laptop screens have an overly blue tint to them (different color temp), which over time has probably caused people to expect that as the norm.

Color calibration can help match the screen to what your preferences are, and can be as simple as adjusting the color balance in the Intel graphics properties.
