Hi,

I really use my X60 95% of the time as a desktop replacement so I just don't remember the answer to this question.

Should I be feeling an airflow coming out from the rear of the left side or anywhere else when the fan is supposedly running?

tpfancontrol (or whatever the name of it is) is showing like 3800 rpm on level 7 and less on each lowering so it seems it's running however I feel no airflow coming out anywhere. Is it possible something is wrong here? Temps are always about 63-65C and 70C under a bit more load. This seems somewhat high to me.

Airflow should come out from left upper corner of X60.

That's what I thought I recalled. What the heck is tpfancontrol showing me? I'm looking at it now and it hit 4000 RPM and is fluctuating a bit around 3973-3980 RPM but I feel absolutely no air. Any ideas what is actually occurring here?

Sit in a very quiet room, listen closely and check if you can feel the difference in noise between manual level 7 (max speed) and manual level 0 (fan off).

You should check that the vent or cooling fins aren't clogged with dust. Also holding the laptop next to your ear will make it easier to hear and/or feel the airflow.
If the vent is clogged, removing the keyboard should give you enough access to blow the dust out.

Thanks all. Wish I just pulled the keyboard right away. I turned it on with it lifted and saw the fan spinning so I looked at the input and output paths. It wasn't perceivably dirty but I put a vacuum hose just above the fan for a little bit and also blew thru the fan and that seems to have done the trick. I can now feel an airflow, light but that's all it needs. Now running at 47C with light load.
