Hello, looking to extend the warranty on my x60 model 1709-h6u. I am most likely interested in the 2 yr depot service. Is 2 yrs the longest I can extend, as it the 3 yr in-home just expired? Let me know where the best price can be found besides from IBM/Lenovo directly, any resellers?? Thanks Chris

Are you still under warranty? If you are...you can call Lenovo and find the best warranty extension and they will quote you a price. I don't know of any resellers of the same service. Perahps others can advise.

For Harryc on costcentral: how will I know what warranty can be purchased for my laptop? I see quite a few for x60 but why is a 3yr 100ish and 2yr 200ish?

Don't know their pricing or product structure...give them a call and ask.

cfslevin,
The prices you see for the two- and three-year warranty extensions mean extension from the date of manufacture. That is to say, if I have owned my computer for three years and purchase a five-year warranty, I will have another two years of coverage. If I have owned it for three days and purchase the five-year warranty for exactly the same price, I will have five more years of coverage. If you have already owned the laptop for three years, you will have to purchase a four- or five-year warranty to extend your coverage.
This is frustrating but it seems to be the state of affairs. You could try calling the service number and asking for a better price on an extension, which I've heard in some channels can work, but they would not budge when I extended from one year to three.

$259 is getting too close to the replacement cost of an X60. I would save my $$ and replace the X60 if it craps out for some reason. I have seen X60's sell in the $350 range recently on the forum.

But you know the exact condition and treatment of your machine.
