So, I wonder, can I replace my NON-Ultralight LCD on my X61s with an ultraLIGHT 180nits LCD?
Meaning, are there any physical restrictions/challenges inherent in the cabling bits on these LCDs from what is originally on the laptop?
My Laptop, a # 7668-CTO has LCD with:
PN # FRU #
42T0434 42T0435
The UltraLIGHT 180nits LCD Panel that I am looking at for some $215 USD on Ebay, is the PN # 13N7092
So, would a PN # 13N7092 simply plug in and sit comfortably where a 42T0434/42T0435 used to sit without any sort of mucking about with cabling?
Anyone tried this yet?
Thanks,
UltraLIGHT 180nits LCD For my NON-Ultralight X61s

To replace the non-UltraLight screen with FRU #13N7092 requires replacing the LCD case, the bezel, the LCD cable, and the hinges. The inverter, the antennas, and the bluetooth module (if you have it) can be reused.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying, but I thought the process and parts you describe above really only apply to the X61, not the X61s.EOMtp wrote:To replace the non-UltraLight screen with FRU #13N7092 requires replacing the LCD case, the bezel, the LCD cable, and the hinges. According to the X61/X61s HMM, the X61s is .28lbs lighter, meaning about 4.5oz lighter, which suggest that the entire display section is lighter/thinner(?). Or is the weight loss due to a smaller CPU heatsink due to a lower-power CPU?
Assuming a thinner/lighter display, and since X61s were available in UL and non-UL, I would wager the innards of the display would be wired the same on both the UL and non-UL X61s? No?
I just wonder if any has actually tried this on an X61s.

Don't!Tan Mann wrote:... I would wager ...
The LCD panel with FRU #13N7092 (the TMD screen which is called "Ultralight") mounts in its own "casing", with its own parts, as described in my earlier post, and below. It makes no difference whatsoever what "flavor" of X6x[/s] you have.
The casing and support parts for the 13N7092 can be the X60s type or the X61s type. Pick the X61s type (below) if you want an extendable WWAN antenna:
FRU #42X3924 - LCD rear cover with antennas
FRU #42X3938 - LCD bezel
FRU #41V9746 - Hinges
FRU #93P4536 - LCD cable w/Bluetooth
