Hi! I've just acquired an x60 t2400/2gb/60gb 7200/ vodafone 3g, this is my first ibm notebook, very nice machine ;)
I changed thermal paste, upgraded to 3gb, changed hdd to 250gb Wester Digital, new hinges, new nipple  , installed win 7 and a new italian keyboard is coming, now it's near perfect!
Now i'm thinking to change the original 4 cell battery for something better, what do you think of the non original batteries sold on ebay?
I have positive experience with an acer travelmate and some other brands but none with ibm.
What about painting? The edge's paint has gone, what to do?
Thank you, greetings from Italy! ;)

I would not advice you to buy those third party batteries that are sold on e-buy. Just check the forum marketplace or open a thread that you want to buy an original battery for your machine. I did it this way and after a couple of weeks got a 8-cell battery in mint state from a forum member (thanks to cunha) for quite a reasonable price.
Just my two cents:)
Good luck!

The new chinese 4cell batteries only last about 1.5 hrs on my X60s, but I only pay $28.

Sometimes you can get a discount at the Lenovo bargain site.
