X60 horizontal flickering line?
X60 horizontal flickering line?
I've started to get this flickering line on my screen. It's one (I think) horizontal line (side to side), about in middle, that flickers time to time. It could be minutes or hours that it don't appear, it could flicker constantly. I think its frequency has rised now a little.
Any ideas, which causes this. It's also on in BIOS, so I don't think it's driver issue. Also in battery mode, so I don't think it's powersupply problem.

Now it's constant, it doesn't flicker anymore.

Also there isn't problem when I use external monitor from VGA-port, only in laptop's monitor.

Your LCD panel is faulty. I remember some guys solving this problem by putting light pressure on correct locations (where flex cables connect to LCD glass). Otherwise, you need to replace the LCD unit. You might consider investing in a SXGA+ LCD panel if you are already changing.

Re: X60 horizontal flickering line?
So I have to remove bezel? HW-manual speaks something about adhesive, is it possible to continue use of of old bezel and adhesive after removing them? Also does somebody know if it possible to remove bezel when the display is connected still on the frame, bypassing the steps the HW-manual suggests?koray wrote:Your LCD panel is faulty. Re: X60 horizontal flickering line?
The answer is YES to both your questions. Place the unit on a table, tilt the LCD back so it is horizontal, i.e., same orientation as the base, and place a book of just the correct thickness under the top to support it perfectly at that elevation off the table. Then you can remove the bezel and everything else will stay in place.
HOWEVER ... in order to remove the screen or to do anything "interesting", it is far far easier to remove the "top" part from the base and work on it that way rather than to struggle with loose parts, LCD cable, antenna wires while they are still connected to the base. My advice: detach the top from the base, including LCD cable and antenna wires, then disassemble the top.
