X60s Win 7 Upgrade Went Great

Just want to report, I purchased a Win 7 Pro 32 bit upgrade and in a couple of hours, had my X60s 1703-BW3 humming along just great, upgrading from XP SP3. I have it running on a Toshiba SSD drive with 2GB ram, it is a pleasure to use. I downloaded all the Windows and Lenovo updates, reinstalled MS Office and most of my other software by now, have it printing to two very old HP printers via a Netgear wireless print server, and on my wireless network most of the day, access to my TIVO and all that I had working with XP. Everything works perfectly. One slight exception - I have had a couple of glitches when hibernating (which I do every day). A couple of times it hung with a black screen going to hibernate and I had to hold down the power button to get it to shut down. I think I have it fixed but we'll see. Otherwise I am very happy with 7. I highly recommend it on this machine, especially with the SSD it will fly.
Now, I am tempted to make the switch on the T400s (running on the XP downgrade), which should be even better. I stuck with XP to be conservative with my work machine, but now that I've used 7, I am getting ready to use those free Lenovo Win 7 recovery disks they sent me.

I just finally down graded myW 700 to XP from Win7 64. I've had a terrible time with the drivers causing stuttering music playback. After 8 months I finally gave up. I miss 7 but all the issues are gone. I blame lenouo and it's vendors for the driver issues. I'm using 7 32bit on my tablet and I have no trouble with it. Hoping they solve all the driver issues so I can go back to 7 on my W700 eventually. Of coarse ymmv but if I were you I'd try it on a new hard drive so you can quickly switch back.

Yes, I have two hard drives, one with 7 and one with XP. I can go back easily. I don't use my x60s for serious video watching, but I just dowloaded off my Tivo and watched a video, and streamed John Stewart from his website, both were fine in full screen. So I think so far, everything works as expected.

How does Windows 7 run on the x60 compared to XP in terms of speed?

I haven't done any type of testing, but the X60s seems to boot faster and shut down faster with 7. I've moved all of my regular use laptops now to 7, a T43, T400s and X60s and am very happy with it.

Windows 7 runs great on the X60...no issues to report and it has plenty of speed. It is stable and runs everything rock solid. I don't use XP now that I have tasted the cool-aid.

Same here, but I have yet to try it on any older hardware.

Anything with a "4" seems to work fine. Just follow the Microsoft recommendation for minimum hardware requirements. The T40 series with X300 ATI graphics is not perfect...but it does run very well as compared to XP. I wish it had an updated driver for video...but all the other benefits make it worthy.

My T43p runs Win7 great too, I also have to add that I had an X31 running Win7 as well and it worked very well. At least for basic browsing/Emails and watching videos.

Do the Lenovo drivers and software like Access Connections and Power Manager work? On their web site I saw they had drivers for XP and Vista and not for 7 for the x60.

I have not had any problems with the X60s, all the software and drivers were available. By running Windows updates and Lenovo updates, that got me 97% there. The other 3 % had to do with an Intel driver, which is in a thread around here somewhere, with solution from RealBlackStuff.
