X61s AC LED ON but no boot at all

#1 Post by fasteez » Thu Jul 15, 2010 3:08 pm

Hi,

I can't witness any activity except the ac led is on when plugged on charger. No fan spinning, no heat, no other blinking lights etc. I swapped keyboards just in case: no luck. (I dont have a laptop base). Using other batteries doesnt change anything (except for the battery led to get on)

I saw some brown fluid (coffee.. coke, I didnt taste ^_^) traces under the keyboard so it's a probable cause. The semi transparent plastic sheet over the mobo seems glued .. and i don't know if it's on purpose or if it's spillage under the plastic.

I didnt see any burns or blown things .. so I wonder, if the mobo was dead from spillage, would there be active leds ? ahh hope.

Cheers

with both battery and adapter plugged; the battery led blinks; I guess it means it's charging the cells. This might be the fanciest battery charger ever \o/

strange thing I noticed while disassembling, no leds are on if I disconnect the lcd cable (does it means no boot without lcd ? which is smashed btw.)

I might try to wash the mobo with isopropyl as a last attempt before saling it for parts.
