SD card reader not working at all

Hello,

When I insert an SD card into the reader Windows doesn't show any reaction and the SD card drive doesn't show up in the Explorer. Does anyone have an idea what I could do to find the reason and get it working again?

It's a Thinkpad X61s with Windows Vista. Windows' device manager doesn't show any problems, an "SD hostadapter" is shown as working without problems.

I am using Comodo Antivirus and I wonder if it might prevent the driver from loading, but that is just a vague guess. Closing it didn't help.

Regards,
Ken

Remove the driver in system properties and let Windows re-install the missing driver. Just a guess. :)

Mine has had an intermittent issue for a long time. I have to plug the card in several times before it "registers".

Is the reader supposed to read SDHC (4 and 8GB) too?

In the Device Manager I uninstalled the card reader, then from the menu let Windows look for new devices. Windows found the card reader and installed local drivers. Now it works fine.

Thank you!
