X61 and OpenGL version

After browsing around the Lenovo site it appears that the latest video driver for Windows 7 64-bit on an X61 supports only version 2.0 of OpenGL. How do I get support for later versions of OpenGL? Thanks.

Run an Intel driver?

That's an option I guess but I assume there's some reason why Lenovo has a customized driver to begin with. I was surprised to find that the Lenovo OpenGL support was apparently so back level on Win 7.

Well, it's more than an option really, it's the only way to get more advanced OpenGL support. TTBOMK Lenovo tweaks video drivers for power management and things like OSD functionality. Their video drivers have been back-leveled since the dawn of Thinkpads. Some people do run the latest Intel drivers, so it's something you'd just have to try to see if it has any impacts on other functions that matter to you.
