hello,
A few days ago I put into x61s ( wwlan ready - extra antenna and sim socket) minipci card - huawei em770 - I had this card in my old laptop - eee pc asus - there was working perfect.
In x61 in places where range was about 2, now is 0. It is working in city center where range is full - software is showing about 3/5.

In x61 I have two antennas - one long wire is going to antenna near screen, second one is taped to minipci socket - short wire with copper antenna like in cellphones. I connected both to the card - later I was trying to change them places - all the same, nothing better in range.
What can be the reason? I was looking for some transmit power options like in wifi cards, but I didn't find.

The signal strength should improve by one or two bars when you extend the antenna (picture below)? Does it?

I was trying to extend it - it was first thing I do:) Range is the same.

If extending the antenna makes no difference, then perhaps you are using the wrong antenna wire. The antenna wire connected to the "primary" antenna connector on the WWAN card should have a red band on it -- not black, not grey, not white. Is the red wire connected to the primary antenna conector?

lenght of antenna wire is almost specially to connect it to left connector - this one is aux, and main is at right, but I was trying to change them places without any better range.
