Happy owner of a kinda new X61T...Some queries & advice...

After my T41P gave up due to the gfx issue, I have been seriously considering a X201T but due to the limited low voltage arrandales currently adopted by lenovo, I held up until coming across a sweet X61T from a local chap who "upgraded" from this thinkpad to an ipad  . Considering its excellent condition and price(USD$530+), I really consider this a superb deal that those peeps in the local forums passed up...lucky me!

While I was checking out the ram sticks, I noticed a SIM card adapter just below the rams under the rams access cover, much like those found on the handphone...after looking up thinkwiki and googling, I came up with nothing...even the lenovo parts list didn't mention anything vaguely similar except for "Integrated Cingular HSDPA 3G Wireless Broadband Network Adapter", but that does not come with my model(7764). Can anyone tell me what this is?

Also, I immediately swapped in a 320gb scorpio blue I had lying around and was intending to do a clean W7 install, is there anything else that I would need to install to enable the full features of the tablet? ie. shortcut button?

Hope you guys do not find the questions too noobish but I come from the T41 era and this is also my first tablet!

This is the sim card holder that will enable a built in WWAN card such as the F3507G to work. The WWAn cards can be installed in the mPCIe slot under the keyboard wristrest.

You'll need this to figure out how to install a WWAN card.

Thanks fasterbybike, I did some further research and realised that it was simply a sim card holder which still requires an additional wwan card to work properly, and i even found a lenovo video that teaches you how to install that card! Apart from this F3507G that you mentioned, are there any other variations that would work in a 3G environment? I see lots of mentions of the gobi 1000/2000 but my local seller of this lenovo card only listed some of the newer computers to be compatible with it while other models require a bios flash.

The street price for the MC8775 is the same as that of the gobi1000 while the gobi2000 is twice that price. Which one would you recommend I get?

My local retailer listed this:
"MC8775 (brand new in OEM package, 7.2M)
Can be used for Lenovo/IBM Laptops only. x61, T61 3G upgradable models etc, installed and can use already. Other model need to flash BIOS."
Right, now that I have looked up more about wwan cards, I'm stumbled in trying to find out whether my X61T is 3G upgradable. Is the network type determined by the wwan or the component that is built into the mobo(the sim card slot near the rams)? Is there any possibility of my machine using the more popular gobi 1000/2000 wwan cards?

Hope someone can help offer some advice, thanks!
