I mainly have 60 opened tabs of web surfing. And just need to mutitask.

Should I pay the extra money and go with a used x61s or go for the cheaper x60s?

I'd go with the X61s and run 64bit Windows 7 on it. That way you can install more usable RAM for multitasking.

To amplify, even though the X60s was available with a 64-bit Core 2 Duo (but good luck finding one) you'd still be stuck with the BIOS-imposed 3GB memory limit. Downside of the X61 is it will probably use more power and run hotter.

Right, I forgot the x60s has a 3gb ram limitation. How much more ram can I use with win7 on a x61s? I'm guessing 8gb total.

don't really mind the battery life as much. thanks for the info. Yeah, I think the x60s with core2duo would be almost impossible to find.

Correct, but only if you run Windows 7 64bit.
