X60/61 owners

I have now bezel separation issue on x61s, X60s and a T60p. the bezel tends to separate slightly on the right edge in my 3 laptops.

thought that I would share my frustration.

There is no "universal" problem like the one you describe. The bezels on those machines must not have been installed properly (e.g., the antenna wires not routed properly under the bezel) or the retaining screw is not threaded properly. Those bezels fit tight when assembled correctly, and remain that way, with no "separation", as long as nothing is broken.

Dear EOMtp,
My apologies - I should not have used the words "these models" ofcourse I mean only the ones that I own. So I have changed this to "my laptops" and edited my post.

I might have been the unfortunate one.

thats all,

regards.

EOMtp makes a good point. I've noticed a few times how misrouted antenna cables caused the LCD bezel or the keyboard bezel to bulge or otherwise appear warped.

The bezel is secured by screws, but it is also held with glue patches in certain locations between the screws. Undoing and redoing the bezel eventually makes the glue weaker, which might contribute to the separation.

Then there are quite a few plastic latches around the bezel. On both my T60s I can cause the bezel to separate in multiple points by prodding at the latches with my fingernails. But they go right back in and sit tight, without coming loose on their own, as long they are not broken.
