Outdated but still not solved: Lenovo and batteries

Hello,

I'm runing Windows 7 /32bit on an "refurbished" (home made) X60 1,83ghz/4GB/500 7K500) The machine has WLAN&WWAN installed.

I noticed, that Lenovo-Tools do not like batteries, that do not come from Lenovo. As far as I had noticed, the batteries would not be charged/loaded. Therefore i bought genuine ones for my Thinkpads.

Now I have had to note, that the genuine battery will not be charged, once run down. Charging with the help of an external charger seems not to be a problem.

Questions:
(1) Kown problem?
(2) If so, systemboard damage (Toolbox reports nothing, PC-Doctor while rebuilding either: nothing) ?
(3) or added system part? If so exchangeable?

Thanks in advance

If it's just one battery giving you a charging issue, try another as a test...preferably genuine IBM/Lenovo.

I also have several X60 systems running W7, both with genuine Lenovo and aftermarket batteries (4-cell and 8-cell). Power Manager 3.12 reports each one of them charging, even the 8-cell "compatible" battery. The only problem that I have with the non-Lenovo battery is that it prevents the laptop from docking with the Ultrabase. Power Manger does warn me that I am not using an approved battery but it still charges.

If your battery(ies) can be charged with an external charger but not when it is in the laptop, my guess is that you have a problem with the charging circuit on the motherboard.

Thanks to both of You

I 'll try another Battery and I fear that I'll have to find another motherboard...
