Will an X60 screen fit on a X61s laptop
Will an X60 screen fit on a X61s laptop
Hi all,
I own a X60 that works well.
I have the opportunity to get a X61s with a broken screen. Will I be able to use my X60 screen on it ?

Yes, if you are referring to swapping out the entire "top" of the machine. All non-tablet X6x[/s] "tops" fit all X6x[/s] "bottoms". Note that the Bluetooth adapter is in the LCD enclosure, so when you remove a "top", you may also be removing the Bluetooth adapter. Obviously, antenna configurations may vary between the different "tops".pierre04 wrote:Will I be able to use my X60 screen on it [x61s]?
If you are referring to swapping out the LCD panel only but keeping the enclosure, then know that regular screens (i.e., your X60 screen) will not fit in Unltralight enclosures and the LCD cables are different, i.e., make certain that the target X61s does NOT have an Unltralight screen, because your X60 LCD panel will not fit in that enclosure.

Re: Will an X60 screen fit on a X61s laptop
Thank's for your answer.
My X60 does not have bluetooth.
Suppose the X61s with the dead screen has a bluetooth module, will it be possible to remove it and use it with the X60 "top" ? (I suppose there will not be enough room, sadly...)

There is no one-word answer, so here are the details:pierre04 wrote:Suppose the X61s with the dead screen has a bluetooth module, will it be possible to remove it and use it with the X60 "top" ?
If your X60 does not have Bluetooth, then (most likely) its LCD cable does not have the connector for the Bluetooth module. You need an LCD cable which has the Bluetooth connector. If the "donor" X61s has Bluetooth ..AND.. does NOT have Ultralight LCD, then its LCD cable will fit your case + has the Bluetooth connector, so you would transfer the LCD cable from the X61s to your X60.
If the X61s has Bluetooth and Ultralight screen, then only the Bluetooth module will transfer to your machine, and you still need an LCD cable which has the Bluetooth connector.
Space for the Bluetooth module is not an issue, since all LCD enclosures can accommodate it.

If you've got an X60 that works well why would you want to wreck it to fix another machine that you don't know much about aside from it has a bad screen?
If it was me and I won the auction then I'd start looking for a replacement screen (they aren't that hard to find), fix the X61 and then have TWO good laptops.
