X61s Battery Drop from 74,88 Wh to 36 Wh with 69 Cycles

Hi, I have a problem with the battery of my x61s...

I noticed that in battery mode the remaining time drops from like 2 hours to 20 minutes (original 8-cell Battery, from 2008, with 69 cycles) and when i charge the battery it jumps from like 50% to 100%, so i used the Battery Maintenance und used "reset gauge level". That was on Energy Manager 3.20 or 3.25, cant remember. The remaining capacity sank from 74,88 Wh to 54 Wh.

So i thought that cant be right, i only have 69 cycles on that battery. So i ran System Upgrade and downloaded + installed Energy Manager 3.30 and ran the "reset Gauge level" again.
This time i only had 36 Wh left, from my original 74,88 :(

I even tried the battery after that but instead of the 1h30min it only wnet for 20mins :(

Same happens to my 4 cell battery, when charging it jumps from 50% to 100% :(

Im running Windows 7 Prof. 32bit

I even tried to boot from a Ubuntu Live CD, but it also tells me:
Energy when full: 36 Wh
Design Capacity: 74,9 Wh

So i guess i need to reset my battery somehow so it gets calibratet correct again...

Anyone have any suggestions for me?

The X60/61 series batteries are notoriously problematic. If you are within the one year warranty on battery, you should request to get it replaced. Otherwise, it is likely you will have to purchase another one.

hi, I've had same issue with my battery. Check this link

Battery diagnostic tool showed that my battery applies for replace program, all I did was providing my address for Lenovo so they could send me a new one :) (arrived within 3 days)

The Diagnostics Tool says my battery i not affected...

BUT My battery has the FRU number: 93P5030, which is listed on the lenovo site, what should i do now?

Edit: Correct message: Your battery is not eligible for replacement because it is more than 12 month beyond the battery warrenty expiration date

Lithium technology batteries degrade with time as well as use, so the number of cycles in itself is not a great indicator of likely battery health.

Running successive resets on a battery within a short period of time is not a good thing to do either.

That i understand/respect, but same happend not only to my 8-cell Battery but
also to my 4-cell Battery, was in perfect health before (it has 25 cycles). And Battery status is slaso on "poor" ...

That cant be a coincidence, can it?
