Bricked X61

Hello everyone,

So, I in June/July 2008 I bought a pretty solid X61 (I did a lot of the possible upgrades). Being as lucky as I am, I bought it from the US and I am living in Europe. Then, after I had for some 2-3 months I got a fan error. Lenovo Germany refused to repair it, so I had to do it myself. It did work afterwards, although I did the job a bit crudely I have to admit (I couldn't detach the cable that goes to the modem so I cut it off as I will never use a modem - desperate times need desperate measures). A year after that, the laptop decided to turn into a very expensive brick (it won't start, I guess a power problem) and I abandoned it. Now, I temporarily moved to the US and I thought of maybe servicing this beloved laptop. Can you tell me an estimate of the price that will cost me to fix it?

So in case someone is interested, a diagnosis costs $25, so let's see what happens :)

The best solution would probably be to buy an X61 with a broken display and a live motherboard from eBay.

I'm sure professional repair would be out of the question cost-wise at this point in time.
