I've been using Photoshop and Lightroom on my x61s and am wondering how to make them faster. Two alternatives I've been thinking of are
1) Go from 3gb to 6gb ram, and from XP to Win 7 64. From other posts here it seems the x61s can go to 8gb. If not, obviously this wouldn't work.
2) Go from 500gb 5400 drive to 500gb or 640gb 7200 drive
Next year I'll probably get an x201 with an i5 (or whatever is current then), so I don't want to spend a whole lot now.
What would you suggest?
How to speed up x61s for Photoshop?

If you're looking for a performance boost I'd say the Seagate Momentus XT is worth a look. The X61s can indeed take 8GB of memory.

The Seagate does look interesting.FredGarvin wrote:If you're looking for a performance boost I'd say the Seagate Momentus XT is worth a look. The X61s can indeed take 8GB of memory.
Tom's Hardware likes it a lot, even if the benchmark numbers aren't that much higher than the competition. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sea ... 38-13.html
Do you think this would significantly boost performance, and more than additional memory, especially for Lightroom and Photoshop?
