I installed my new Hitachi 7k500 with Win 7. I've been trying to install the ThinkPad Active Protection and the normal icon i usually get in the system tray doesn't show up. Also, the normal start menu folders "Thinkpad" isn't there and I can't start the program. I check the control panel and look at the currently installed software and it says thinkpad aps is installed.
APS worked fine with my Vista install, but it was with a Toshiba HD.
I vaguely remember something about needing to install certain drivers in order for the APS to work...(may be making that up)
Anyone have an clues why this isn't installing on Win 7 and my new hitachi drive?

As far as I know in Windows 7 the APS icon does not show up by default. In the control panel you should have the Airbag Protection icon (switch from category to icon view) and you can check if its working from there and enable the icon if you want to.
I'M DONE WITH THINKPADS, JUST DONE!!!
