A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
Does anybody make these?
The market is full of them but they are all a bit too big, or too small.
It is for carrying the laptop without any accessories.
I also want something of reasonable quality...
Any pointers much appreciated.

I have a Tucano Folder XS (http://www.buy.com/prod/tucano-bfxs111- ... 45719.html) and a Booq Vyper XXS.
The Tucano is the tigher fit since it is a neoprene sleeve. The Booq is a hard case.

Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
Many thanks xene.
Is the above URL (Tucano BFXS111 11.1") the actual model you have for a x60s?
The Booq Vyper XXS 12" version is almost unobtainable here in Europe but looks great. However I found this
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Booq-Taipan-spa ... =8-1-fkmr0
which referring to this thread here
http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=81208
suggests would fit an x60s...
Then there are the hard cases but they are heavy e.g.
http://www.laptopshop.co.uk/dicota-alus ... -1-cc2.htm
http://www.laptopstuff.co.uk/p/Matias_L ... m_Case.htm
I have the 2nd one above and it is great for carrying a laptop with the power unit and loads of other gizmos but the case is really heavy.

Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
I'm almost certain that the link for the Tucano is the one that I have. I can't be sure because they didn't list the size but mine is definitely the XS. You didn't mention what size battery you have but if you have a 4-cell like I do it fits quite nicely.
Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
Well, having wasted £25, I can confirm that the
Booq Taipan spacesuit XS for iPad - black
is definitely too small for an x60s with the standard battery
There doesn't seem to be much out there that really fits this computer.

I got one of these 6 months ago from the same seller: eBay item 170473408359. It's tailor made for the X60/X61: a perfect fit without being too tight. You can use it with a 4 or 8 cell battery as the flap is on the long side.
They also have item 180537204568 with flap on the short side, but I thought the first one looked more useful.

Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
I'll post a picture of my z60s in the Booq later today. If you are interested I'm willing to sell it at can sell it for a nominal price. I don't even use it anymore. For travelling I use the Tucano and for everyday I slip it into the laptop comparment of my purse.

Tell them the exact dimesions and they will make a bag that fits perfectly. I been using these with all my Thinkpads, since T4x days!

I've posted photos of the sleeve at http://www.flickr.com/photos/26021339@N ... 296895861/. Sorry for the image quality - I had to use my cell phone since the batteries were dead on my real camera.

What type of fabric/materials do they use? I'm assuming the quality is high since you seem to have used them for a while.
Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
Thanks xene that's very good. I just have not found anybody selling those products over here (UK). Overseas shipping tends to inflate prices too much (I did find them in the USA).
I've ordered one of those mentioned by cros, from Ebay.

From the web site..... "Our sleeves and pouches are made of navy blue neoprene, it’s 3.00mm thick, coated with nylon on the exterior and with a velvet-like material on the interior."xene wrote:What type of fabric/materials do they use?

Re: A tight fitting protective sleeve for x60s
I bought a sleeve on eBay for about $6.00 us. It fits my X60s just fine. The issue is which battery do you want to use?

This one fits perfectly if you can stand the red color and funy spelling

It's dirt cheap too, and the quality is excellent, i've had it for two years now without any problems.
