X60s won't turn on

I have an X60s and today I tried to set up a partition on my HDD using Partition Magic. It was going through the process and I saw the "Windows is shutting down" screen. Then the computer goes dead and does not turn on. I took out the battery and reseated the memory. Now when I plug in the AC cable the it will power up and show me the Thinkpad sign. Then about a second later everything will turn off (even if I press the ThinkVantage button). This only happens if the battery is out and I plug in the AC cable; it turns on its own and then turns off immediately. Pressing the power button does nothing.

Any ideas?

I would start without the hard drive if I was you. Other options include removing any internal hardware you can get your hands on (I know some require a little dismantling and may be beyond what you are willing to do). The system may be a goner, but it also might be a bad piece of hardware like the hard drive, wifi card etc...

Figured it out. Something is wrong with my keyboard; it seems the power button is always toggled as on. Any way to fix this without buying a new keyboard?

The key is not stuck in the down position, but is sending a constant signal of being pressed.

I would remove the keyboard temporarily, carefully snap off the button cover and get to work cleaning the power button with some alcohol, around, on top, and underneath the plastic button. Something might have gotten on it or the membrane to make it sticky. With the cover off you can take a look at the mechanism and see if it is damaged instead. If it is the actual connector to the board, you can blow that out with compressed air & clean it with alcohol (but make sure the laptopis not plugged in & no batteries are in the system) I am glad to hear that it was the power button, that is the best possible outcome.

New keyboards are really cheap anyway.
