We have a thinkpad X61S laptop.
The screen was broken. The existing screen of the laptop is HT121X01-101 the replacement is an
LTN121XF-L01.
When the new screen is placed the laptop will turn on and directly off.
Screen specs are the same.
Anybody who has had the same problem or nows how to solve it ?

There is no solution other than to use an IBM FRU# for an exact replacement. The (2) LCD's you mentioned are not electrically equivalent...the pin-outs are different. See the data sheets for pin assignments. I would not be surprised if you blew a fuse on the systemboard...or worse.

Are you taking about retail sites selling these LCDs as replacements? I would not trust those. The tale is in the pin-outs.

I owned several X60, X60s, X61 and made some screen replacements. HT121X01-101 (BoeHydis) can be directly replaced with LTN121XJ-L07 (Samsung) and vice versa. This Samsung screen seems to me to be brighter than BoeHydis and I also like the white which is not so yellowish.
Anyway, does anybody have a hint which IPS XGA LCD screen can be used in X6x non-tablets?

Bumping the old topic, but there sure is IPS XGA panels that can be used. For example the one from X41T and X6x Tablet but as with SXGA+ they also require cable modification and fitting efforts. On X4x and X3x the LCD cable can be just flipped and the LCD works.

Hi!
I'm wondering if Chi Mei N121X4-L01 LCD will be compatible with X61s. It's also a XGA LCD.

I just refurbished a regular X61 (not an X61s or X61t) with a brand new screen:
an
IDTech IAXG02C that was originally meant for a HP Compaq NC4010
Got it here:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/400589989657
Works perfectly and is a drop-in replacement.

My X61 did that as I was installing an HV121X01. The different pinout causes the VCC and GND lines to be tied together from the X61, shorting them out! To use the new panel I had to build an adapter. The pinout is not radically different, it's almost just an off-by-one situation.

Did
what?
If you refer to my refurb, that was a 100% identical pinout to the standard X61 XGA!

Wait a minute.
The Boe-Hydis panel for the X60/61 is the
HT121X01-101.
The panel you used (
HV121X01) doesn't appear to have been used on a Thinkpad.
And the VCC-GND shorting issue sounds like something you'd encounter when doing the IPS mod.
I haven't found a datasheet for the HV121X01 panel yet so I can't be sure, but it's possible that your panel's pinout is the same as the Boe-Hydis IPS LCDs (HV121X03-100 and HV121P01-100/101).

My mistake. I did indeed install an HV121X03, and it was shorting. I was not installing a stock X61 LCD. I happily removed the original HT121X01 TN panel and chucked it straight in the trash, and retrofitted the HV121X03 LCD into the backlight / frame of the HT121X01 so it would mount properly. I had to solder an adapter for the pinout change.
