Is it possible to change the protective glass on X61 tablet?

Hi. All,
The LCD surface of my faithful X61 tablet is full of random scratch mark during many years of usage.
By looking at the video on how to replace the LCD according to this:
http://vimeo.com/3933798
Please view this starting at 8:40 section.
It looks like, there is a protective glass (or plastic) on the LCD.
I'm just wondering if its possible to change this one only. So I could get a clean surface.
Is there any FRU or compatible part for this? Thanks for your help.

It's been discussed here that it is virtually impossible to remove the digitizer layer without breaking it or the LCD or both. Also I am not aware of a source for just the top layer, so then the problem becomes that even if you have a donor LCD/digitizer, you could not remove the 'glass' without shattering it.

Thanks. But when I look the video in the first post, it looks like it's possible to remove the top-layer protective glass at least the original video author had replace lots of LCD.

He has changed it before. The screen he is working on is actually an X60 tablet screen. Those have the writing surfaces attached with adhesive, which is easy to remove. The X61 screen has the writing surface bonded to the screen. If you buy the screen from Lenovo, it comes with the digitizer (piece in the back) attached. The X61 screens have a G5 digitizer and the X60 screens have a G4 digitizer. They are plug compatible, but they need a different LCD cable. Since he is moving the X61 digitizer from his old screen, he has no problem. They are easy to tell apart. From the back, the G5 digitizers are silver colored; the G4 ones are copper colored.
