Hi,
I've got a ThinkPad X61 with the ThinkPad 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN Mini Express Adapter (Atheros AR5418/AR5008 chip based), running Windows 7. In the driver options, I don't have an option to select "802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4". Does anyone know if it is possible of enable this option in the standard Windows 7 driver for this card? If yes, how?
I've also got a ThinkPad X100e with an Intel 6250 WiFi adapter, also running Windows 7 and that driver has the option to select "802.11n Channel Width for band 2.4" to 20/40Mhz. It connects to my router at 300Mbps, so I know my router is capable.
Cheers,

I am pretty sure that this early draft card will not support that speed.

I see lots of references on the web that suggest it can do 300Mbps, eg:

I've just realised that this card may only be capable of 300Mbps when connected at 5.0Ghz. It may not be able to do it at 2.4Ghz. Does anyone know for sure?
Cheers,

Hmm.. does your machine have 3 antenna connectors?

No, I think it's just 2 antenna connectors.

It can operate (anti-socially) on 802.11n the 2.GHz WiFi band with 3 antennas, as I have used one in that mode (for a short time, see below).
As for the options in the driver, it will depends on what Atheros has implemented in it.
BTW, check your Bluetooth operation carefully if its important to you, as the 5008 based cards can create BT interference problems... for me it killed the ability of BT on a ThinkPad to support connections to multiple BT devices.
Cheers,
Bill B.

Thanks Bill. I've only got 2 antennas, so am probably limited to ~150Mbps (actual throughput is much less I know). I use the BT mouse without issue, but I've not tried to use multiple BT devices.
Cheers,

To be clear, does this card only reqiure 3 antennas if expected to operate at 2.4Ghz at 300Mbps? If I plan to stick with 5Ghz at 300Mbps, will two antennas suffice?
Thanks
