Cant sometimes recover from blank scree standby/hibernation?

#1 Post by blink » Sat Jan 29, 2011 7:00 pm

A couple of hopefully small x60s issues, Occasionally goes to a blank screen & seems to be just stuck there, power button & space bar do nothing & so far only remedy i have seems to be remove the psu & battery for a reboot. Am i missing something?
Also wireless drops occasionally & i have to disconnect & reconecct again , i remember having a similar problem years ago with a t42 on XP & you good people on here sorted it out by telling me some settings to change. I will have to dig up that old post, but this is an x60s running vista so the settings may be different?
EDIT: have found the old post & tried altering a setting through device manager relating to disconnection now so will see how i get on with that.1
Any Ideas Guys?

Thanks

Perhaps Windows 7 will help you solve your problems...it runs fantastic on my X60s. This would save you hours of troublshooting your immediate problems.

If you prefer to troubleshoot the issues start by running msconfig and shutting off all applications from startup. See if that fixes your issues.

Is it possible that you are connected to a 2nd monitor? Also, along the same lines as suggested by billp117, you might double-check that you've got all your drivers updated (both Windows updates and Lenovo driver updates).

Also wireless drops occasionally & i have to disconnect & reconecct again

In device manager/ network adapter/ properties/ advanced --
Try setting 'roaming aggressiveness' to 'Lowest'

Occasionally goes to a blank screen & seems to be just stuck there, power button & space bar do nothing & so far only remedy i have seems to be remove the psu & battery for a reboot.

I think I remember some Lenovo System Updates addressed issues recovering from sleep or hibernation, as well as some MS Windows updates referring to similar issues. Maybe run System Updates and see what it finds.
