Just bought an X60T

#1 Post by Derkach99 » Mon Feb 21, 2011 1:37 pm

Hello,

I am new here and I wanted to share my recent Thinkpad purchase on this forum. I recently bought a X60T of eBay for just under $400 CAD including taxes and shipping. How did i do? The model number is 6363-J3U. I welcome your comments.

You did fine...consider a couple upgrades like memory and Windows 7.

The tablet actually comes with 2GB of ram. However I am confused if it actually supports 3GB or 4GB of memory. Also I forgot to mention it also came with an X6 Ultrabase.

Not much to know...enjoy your new tablet. Going to Windows 7 is rather painless.

Alright I thank everyone fro their input. I am just glad that that the X6x Thinkpads come with the standard 2.5'' hard drives compared to the X4x series thinkpads.

Win 7 doesn't support the Infrared port - GASP :) That's about it.

If you have some extra cash I would invest into an SSD. It will blow you away.

I wouldn't mind putting one in but I am scared of the read and write limits. I have the Lenovo SSD replacement in my X40 and it flys. Also I kind of like the speed that is in the WD conventional drives right now. I have a WD Black HD in my T61 and it is noticeably faster then the stock HD that came with it.

I've been using an SSD in my desktop heavily for 1.5 years, and it still has 65% life left..

In a laptop it would probably last a decade.

In a laptop, a proper SSD will probably outlast a mechanical hard drive - there are too many opportunities for accidents in a portable computer, which are much harder on spinning platters than on flash memory.. SSDs are designed for heavy use in daily computing and they can handle it.

i have other laptops but i'll be honest i never use 'em

I recieved my X60T yesterday and I was a little disappointing in it's condition compared to the condition description on the ebay listing. First the listing states that the laptop has no cracks but I see that the battery and screen bezal consists of cracks as well as missing plastic. Also I find that the latch does not work and comes right out of the top of the LCD.

For what you paid you should have gotten a perfect machine.

Return it to the seller and get your refund.

Yes I agree. I contacted the seller and me agreed that is did not meet the description and he gave me a shipping label to ship it back and he is going to refund my money. However I asked the seller if he could just send me another tablet that meets the description.

Just an update. I got my replacement tablet today and it was what I was hoping for. I have windows 7 installed on it now and it seems to be running fine. However does Lenovo have a windows 7 video driver available? Right now I am just using the driver provided by windows update.

I hate to say it but I have ran into some serious problems with windows 7 on the X60t. Today I noticed that when I used the pen or track point I run into issues where I cannot click with the mouse or pen and the only fix that I know of it so press Alt Ctrl Del and click cancel. Once this is done I usually an just a couple clicks away from it happening again. Also does anyone know how to work VLC media player on the X6x tablets? Thank you for your input.
