x60 C2D (T7200) with 4GB SODIMM

Has anyone been able to use a 4GB SODIMM (single DIMM) in the x60 (this is the C2D 64-bit T7200 processor which should support >3GB of RAM)?

If so, anyone successfully use more than 4GB with 64-bit OS on the x60 (again, C2D T7200)?

Otherwise, will all 4GB (assuming 2x2GB) be available when using a 64-bit OS?

Regardless of the CPU and the OS, the chipset/BIOS limit the X60 to 3GB. You can use 2x2GB (and maybe 1x4GB, if you find it), but only 3GB will be usable.

The only thing I have seen discussed, is that using 2 X 2GB sticks will be better than 1 x 1Gb and 1 x 2GB together would be that the memory should operate in dual channel configuration.

I don't know how much of a speed boost this would be, but from my experience with desktop ram, probably not much. If noticeable at all.

So, 3GB will be the max because of the chipset limitations.

Did you win one of those X60 from eBay recently? I've seen a few decked out X60's for sale there as of late :)

In my experience with my T60, using 2x2GB vs. 2GB+1GB made no difference at all. While on my old Athlon XP desktop, using dual channel was actually slightly faster. (It may be due to the old CPU.)

Besides, I believe you'll be limited to 667 MHz speed on the RAM.
