Hi,
I want to upgrade wifi in my X61 from B/G Atheros card to this one.
I primary use laptop in my home network that has ability to use N-standard. Does this card give me more transfer speed ?
What do you think ?
ps: I found this card on ebay brand new for about 15€.
cheers.

Vlad*...
I would Check the HMM for your aptop model(s)
if that CARD is NOT AN OPTION , than you be best advised NOT PTO BUY it
as the BIOS wont let you install (even though its a Lenovo item) - it just wont work
Than you might have to get a modified BIOS , which has its OWN problems!
Cheers

4965AGN was a standard option for the X61 series, so it works without bios mods.
Vlad, you'll get a 130 mbit connection out of that card which will be about twice as fast as the Wireless G.

You will need hacked bios. Might as well go with 5100 instead in that case.

ausmike, this is from ebay item description. There are also other models of 4965AGN, that are not compatible with ibm/lenovo, you have to be sure what are you buying. This is original part.
IvanAndreevich, what about network range? Will it increase it besides Atheros one ?
edit// I bought one right now, I will write some review, when I will receive it.

Today I received my 4965 AGN card from China and it is running well ( without updating bios ). Transfer speed in my local network is about 3x faster, than with Atheros G card. I use main + aux + 3G wwan anthenna as third one.

Is the 4965 card running cooler than Atheros one? My Atheros on X60s makes the right part palmrest very hot and I am thinking to replace it by a low power one.

A 4965AGN will deliver up to 300 Mbps with 802.11n when used with a WiFi router that support 802.11n operation of the 5GHz band.
