A lot of 4695agn cards have the N disabled, make sure yours isn't.

You should have TR1 and TR2 connected, that will give you 2T2R operation. They way you have it connected will give you 1T/2R opeartion

Does the
General tab in device driver properties say 4965AG, rather than a 4965AGN?
Cheers,

Thanks - I've reconnected the antennae and will check speed on my home network (only source at work is ADSL which won't max it out). Update will follow in 6 hours!
General tab shows 4965AGN, Advanced, Wireless Mode still only shows 6. 802.11a/b/g as the last (highest?) option, which is suspicious, methinks, although there are settings for 802.11n Channel width for Band 5.2 (auto) and 802.11n mode (enabled).
Tried on home network - great speed improvement (718Mb file in 1:36) so I think it's working ok. Thanks for the assistance and encouragement!

Kind of off topic but would there be an improvement to signal if one of the wi-fi b/g antennas were connected to the lcd wwan antenna for 2.4ghz or even 5ghz or no? I assume the b/g use primary/secondary antenna just like wwan while like N/5ghz mimo will use 2 antennas with similar characteristics so maybe using one wan antenna and one wholly different wwan external antenna will mess it up?
I could of course try a ubiquiti card like sr71e that may let me designate primary transmit secondary receive only and swap those on the wwan antenna to see if anything happens. If that card works with the pin 20 bios cheat then I probably wont have to care about antennas because the radios on those are possibly more powerful @ 400mw
I would actually like to try all these configs but I don't have a external wwan installed yet so if this all doesn't make sense to someone more familiar then I won't bother putting one in.

Sorry if the question seems sill, but I don't follow everything - will I be able to use the intel n-6200 centrino advanced (622ANHMW) card with my x60s - I have original bios and wouldn't know where to begin to flash a modded one - it's just beyond me. Unless there is a ready x60s bios I could just click and flash to have the ability to install any card?
I would appreciate any help.
Regards

I run that same Intel 6200N (half-size miniPCIe with a bracket) in my X60s, works great and quite cool, compared to other cards.
You can find the modified X60/X60s BIOS here:

Thank you. Found it, flashed it (somehow) and now my minipci is emancipated;) Didn't think I could pull it off though - btw, it IS easy, but somehow it's difficult for a lay person to find the right step by step info in one place - It would be so easy to link to the right version of winphlash with instructions about which file is the bios file - as it is I had to piece together information from different sites and was really intimidated by it all. And it was so easy...
Anyway, thanks for your help.

Sorry for bringing up this fairly old thread.
But I'm desperately in need for that bios you're linking to!
I've a x60s and a Intel 6200 half-size card. What I now need is the bios. I've been googling the whole noon, but unfortunately distribution of these modded bioses seem to be a mess. And the 100+ page threads at MDL isn't making my task any easier...

Well...
First of all that thread is about x60. The original bios file linked there doesn't match with the one for my system (1073-CTO). Secondly, that seems like a very odd way to flash a bios in the traditional sense. I guess that just alters the SLIC and keeps the original bios intact.

Sorry you are right, that's only for adding SLIC tables.
FYI: the only difference between X60 and X60s is the thickness of the lid on the 's', which has a thinner/lighter LCD than the X60. Other than that they are identical and use the same BIOS!
Check your PM.

AR9280 (apple version), on the other hand, does not work on my x61. I have installed drivers for AR9280, and windows does detect the card, but cannot find any AP. I checked this online, and some other people have encountered the same situation, so... I don't know if the design for x60s is very different from the design of x61 due to this issue.
By the way, I have intel wifilink 6300 installed on my x61 as well. The only drawback for this card to me is that it is not supported by Mac OS X.

I thought the "s" was supposed to run cooler and on less power. The "s" can't just mean the lid is thinner.
