Install Secondary Fan under Palm rest(Has any one done it)
Hi
Has any one succeed to install the secondary fan under palmrest? Since our X61 gets really hot under the palm rest.
I have searched but did not find any one who had done it yet

First reduce the wlan signal strength, this should reduce heat, too.

This did reduce the heat on my X61's right palmrest significantly. Now the right and left warmth is about the same. I have not noticed wireless reliability on low power setting at places that I have been working so far.
Great tip!

I am glad I could help. This should improve battery life also (but maybe only minimal).

i do not think this applies to atheros wlan card. intel ones probably gonna be a good solution.
I checked the motherboard differences between the one which pre-installed secondary fan and one without. There is a connector supposed to be soldered on motherboard which connects the fan's harness. but i do not have this connector. I hope the rests are same.

The board with the connector also has related circuitry, not on the other boards. Adding the connector will not help
