I can't see anything, if it is new, then it is just a cheap hdd (and the prices fall every year, 750gb drives are now availible, 320 are therefore cheaper) - I have found it to be about every 2 years, the price falls - in 2007 I bought a 40gb drive for 80$, in 2009, it was a 80gb drive for 80$ - the top end does not reallyseem to change, everything just shifts down from it.

How long is the warranty? Pricier drives may have 3 or even 5 years of warranty.

Most of today's SATA drives have 16MB cache, this one has 8MB...

And for some of us with *long* memory when it comes to laptop hard drives, anything is preferable to a Toshiba...

My $0.02 only...

I have 8mb cache on my t61 drive, performance is not that bad.

I don't have a long memory, all I have is a 12 year old toshiba laptop hdd - I would imagine that sicne they are still selling them, they have gotten better (of course everyone knows what assuming means  )

Geeks had a listing for it as a plain box item but it's OOS.
They listed it with a three year warranty.

All my Samsung 2.5" HDDs and I think all my WD 2.5" HDDs both PATA and SATA all have 8MB cache.

Two decent drives in a similar price range:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822145454

and

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6822152234

which would be my preferred choice...

I bought a Hitachi 7200 320gb drive for $50 CAD about a month ago. Just goes to show the prices are drastically falling. I remember a 1.2gb 3.5" desktop HDD at a whopping 4200 RPM costing about $300 or so.

80MB for $1200.- anyone? That's right: 80 MegaBytes, not GB!
That's what I paid back in the early 1980s!
