X61t bubble forming under glass [Pic warning]

There is a bubble that formed and is growing over time under the glass on my tablet X61t near the edge of the screen/bezel. I didn't see how it started, but first noticed it when it was only around 3mm diameter. Now, it has grown elongated to about 2cm. Depressing the glass around the bubble does nothing to make it move. This X61t hasn't experienced a drop or impact of any sort recently. It's a mystery to me why it has appeared and is growing.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks for the relevant link. It appears the resolution is to replace the LCD. Being that my X61t is 5 years old and out of warranty, my best option would be to save up and get the awesome new X220. I'll just hold out until the bubble makes the screen unusable.

Thanks!

You could open the LCD by removing the metal strip around it (just the right hand side might be enough).
Then get a set of "extra fine" beading needles in a Crafts shop.
Inserting the needle between the correct layers, and into that bubble, will create a conduct for the bubble (liquid?) to 'leak' out from between where it is.
That should do it.

have you tried this?
i have an x61t that doesn't have any 'bubbles', yet. it may not develop them as it's not the sxga+ screen, but it would be good to know for the future.

thx

It's the same theory as when you would put a protective foil on your phone's screen.
You need to make a 'tunnel' for the air, resp. liquid(?) of the bubble.
I use those needles to remove hair or dust from IDTech Flexview LCDs, if it is 2" or less from the side.

If the bubble goes all the way across the screen and it comes completely off, you might be able to resell the screen to an intrepid modder wanting to do the x60 screen swap. :)

Mine started out as a small bubble and now has expanded across the whole bottom of my screen. Fortunately, my screen is still under warranty. So, the bad news is I would expect it to expand over time. The good news is the computer is still perfectly usable (including the tablet pen), it just looks a little worse for the wear.
