X60 Tablet Hinge Replacement is a Nightmare

I've removed pretty much everything except the actual motherboard, but it looks like I'm going to have to remove that in order to feed the cables out of the old hinge. The problem is that there's a little board screwed in near the hinge that isn't described in the HMM. Looking at the illustrations, it just simply vanishes on page 77 onwards. The motherboard doesn't seem to want to come out and this part is probably the reason why, but those screws are ridiculously wrenched in there. Can anyone who's done this before point me in the right direction?

Never mind, I realized it was 1070 LCD Extend board. Taking it out let me pull the board out (I stripped a screw so I ended up having to drill it out; horrible experience, not recommended). This thread can be locked now. For some reason the HMM doesn't mention removing this FRU to remove the board, even though it clearly is.

Did you get it done in the end?

Yeah, it's great to have a stiff hinge again. My old one somehow literally snapped into pieces. Is this common or am I doing something wrong?

Hinges do tend to become loose on these machines. Not as bad as the latches, though.

Yeah, I've had to replace the latch as well. That was a much easier affair though. Makes me miss the robustness of my T42 before it succumbed to the all-too-common GPU problems.

Yeah, but it doesn't have the IPS screen
I would say the X60/X61 non-tablet are some of the toughest machines ever.

Not standard, yeah. Between my X60 Tablet and my iMac I use for audio work, I don't think I could ever go back to TN panels. It's my biggest disappointment about all the newer ThinkPads.
