Swapping X60s cooling module
Swapping X60s cooling module
it seems that there is two versions of fan / cooling module of X60s/X61s.
1. "standard": http://img863.imageshack.us/img863/4153/10x0.jpg
2. made entirely of copper: http://img864.imageshack.us/img864/2423 ... ovox60.jpg
when I look inside my X60s through vents I can see that cooling module is not a copper version, but just aluminium.
the question is do I will fit version 2. in my X60s (Core Duo processor L2400)?

Re: Swapping X60s cooling module
The L2400 gets less hot than a standard T2400, so it doesn't require as much cooling (aluminum is fine for L2400).
EDIT: I thought they were the same, but stand corrected by tcone.

Re: Swapping X60s cooling module
Funny thing, I've been getting some X61 tablets serviced with some fans being replaced by Lenovo. They came back with the aluminum sinks and are now topping out around 70C under a heavy CPU stress test. Going by my experience I would say that whatever the new aluminum ones are - they are better than the old copper ones.

Re: Swapping X60s cooling module
The copper fan won't fit (physically) into an x60s/x61s basecover (second photo) and the aluminum one for the low voltage cpus has also a different connector: it has a 4-wire plug with 3 wires (first photo).

Oops, my bad.
Great pictures! From separate (eBay) pictures I thought they matched!
Time I guess to visit Uncle Eyedoctor...

Re: Swapping X60s cooling module
Your statements are totally WRONG. I didn't tell anything about x60 (without "s"). I've compared x60s modules (there is two versions, alu and copper). Copper version for x60s (YES, with "s"...) is http://cgi.ebay.com/300540387661 , and NOT that x60 module you presented here.tcone wrote:The copper fan won't fit (physically) into an x60s/x61s basecover (second photo) and the aluminum one for the low voltage cpus has also a different connector: it has a 4-wire plug with 3 wires (first photo).

So RedBlackStuff is right.

now i have some kind of dilemma...
i'm waiting now for reply from him to have answer exactly which one is smaller.one is a little bit smaller than the other

Re: Swapping X60s cooling module
I can confirm that X61 tablets have both copper and aluminum. I think the tablets and the X6x's' share the same sinks, don't they?
