X60 video-card query

#1 Post by jkbrand » Sat May 07, 2011 8:49 am

I have an X60 (1709-97U) and want to use the VGA port to output to a Sony HD TV.

Does the video card support S-Video or Composite Video out through its VGA port?

If not, is there a VGA-out cable that will get me any signal to the tv, even if compromised?

Thanks,
Jeff

What kind of signal will these simple adapters deliver to the TV, if as you say, the X6x does not support composite/s-video outputs through its VGA port?

Intel has some good info about what's possible with the 945GM chipset: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/cs-022544.htm

From nothing useful to miserable! It is hardly worth discussing, given that one can buy the proper "cable" -- in the form of a converter box + all kinds of cables -- for $13. See below:

More of the same:

Here is more than anyone wants to know about VGA-to-TV:
