X61 with modified Middleton BIOS

#1 Post by Harryc » Sun Jul 17, 2011 1:35 pm

I just need a sanity check. I 'think' I am running this SSD at SATA2 speeds since the sequential Read in CrystalDiskMark is over 150 MB/s (SATA1 speed). Is this correct?

Code: Select all

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 (C) 2007-2010 hiyohiyo
                           Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s]

           Sequential Read : 214.017 MB/s
          Sequential Write : 55.844 MB/s
         Random Read 512KB : 141.699 MB/s
        Random Write 512KB : 52.429 MB/s
    Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 8.369 MB/s [ 2043.1 IOPS]
   Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 6.412 MB/s [ 1565.5 IOPS]
   Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 10.162 MB/s [ 2481.0 IOPS]
  Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 5.662 MB/s [ 1382.3 IOPS]

  Test : 1000 MB [C: 29.9% (17.9/59.6 GB)] (x5)
  Date : 2011/07/17 14:32:16
    OS : Windows 7 SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x86)

I think you are doing fine.
I have used a Samsung MMCRE28G8MXP (DELL OEM version) MLC SSD with Middleton BIOS (+SXGA mod) on my X61 with WinXP.
Crystal Mark 3.0, 5x 1000MB
Seq Read: 178.5
Seq Write: 163.7
512k Read: 152.0
512k Write: 66.23
4k Read: 14.37
4k Write: 5.122
4kQD32 Read: 12.88
4kQD32 Write: 1.988

Harry
This is from the X61 I got from you. I am using a OCZ Agility2 (60gb).

I really like the machine, it's a bit of a beater, but runs great and is perfect for me to throw in my bag and carry.

Code: Select all

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
CrystalDiskMark 3.0.1 (C) 2007-2010 hiyohiyo
                           Crystal Dew World : http://crystalmark.info/
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
* MB/s = 1,000,000 byte/s [SATA/300 = 300,000,000 byte/s]

           Sequential Read : 189.564 MB/s
          Sequential Write : 68.365 MB/s
         Random Read 512KB : 179.676 MB/s
        Random Write 512KB : 68.033 MB/s
    Random Read 4KB (QD=1) : 12.825 MB/s [ 3131.0 IOPS]
   Random Write 4KB (QD=1) : 29.844 MB/s [ 7286.0 IOPS]
   Random Read 4KB (QD=32) : 96.023 MB/s [ 23443.2 IOPS]
  Random Write 4KB (QD=32) : 62.122 MB/s [ 15166.4 IOPS]

  Test : 1000 MB [C: 79.0% (44.1/55.8 GB)] (x5)

    OS : Windows 7 Ultimate Edition SP1 [6.1 Build 7601] (x64)

@ spuddog, I'm glad that you like the X61. Are you also running Middleton's BIOS?

Yes, I forgot to add that. Also 4gb of ram if that makes any difference
