Flashing Battery Light - A Battery Error Has Occured...

#1 Post by loyukfai » Sat Jul 23, 2011 3:53 am

My X61T's battery was still working good the night before I went to sleep, but when I woke up, the battery LED was flashing rapidly, and Power Manager said "A battery error has occured. The battery cannot be charged. Replace the battery."

Tried unplugging it and re-inserting it for many times to no avail.

Since I'm travelling and getting a replacement here could be tricky, is there relatively easy way to fix it...?

Cheers.

No fix...replacement is the only option.

Well that's bad news.

Anyway thanks.

Cheers.

P.S. Here's my theory, the controller chip in the battery has decided a pre-mature death by itself, for some reasons. Anyway, found a program here (http://be2works.com/) which may change the EEPROM data. However, I don't have the hardware anyway so.

In case anybody has used it to successfully revived a dead battery, please do let me know.

Want to ask another question, is it for the replacement of the battery, or the replacement of the system logic board...?

Cheers.

In my experience, sudden battery death is 99.9% of the time due to a bad cell or cells in the battery. It is unlikely that it is the system board unless if just started to fail charging a battery out of the blue. Your symptom is different "A battery error has occured". Seems pretty self explanatory ;).
