good? bad? compatability issues? trying to save money here.
i got a system that was advertised to "hold a charge perfectly" but is in fact holding a charge at about 50% (drains twice as fast as it should). getting 2 hours on an extended life battery here.

Doesn't sound great, I get 2 1/2 - 3 on a standard cap on a X60T, I only use genuine batteries + run an SSD
I'm getting a high cap tomorrow though so I'll let you know if you like.
Why not look for genuine batteries on EBay? I got the hi-cap for £35 and its a genuine one....

All the generic batteries for thinkpads I have seen/used have been junk. The X6 batteries (both tablets and non-tablets) are the worst

I purchased an aftermarket battery for my X60s (Standard capacity, but not for the X60s, it's the standard cap for the X60). I haven't had it too long, but I have had good luck with it.
It's probably 6 months old, and lasts and 3 hours. I'm running an SSD in the computer. I don't use the computer much anymore because I have my T400s now, but it's sitting in my truck and hasn't died or anything like that.
Maybe it's time to unload it, I don't know...

I've one aftermarket battery and 5 from Lenovo - aftermarket batteries are much larger, so the sleeves doesn't match

So I don't use this big thing. Looks like this...

That's an extended battery, they stick out at the rear.
The standard battery does not stick out.
Both types are available through Lenovo.

If you get a Lenovo battery it
will work to specification and is covered by a 12 month warranty that you can actually use if you need it.
If you get a non-Lonovo battery, it is pretty much pot-luck on whether it work to specification and whether any warranty offered is actually effective.
The phrase "
penny wise but pound foolish" comes to mind.
Cheers,

Yes
hmmm - a littlebit
yes
The aftermarket extended battery sticks _much_ more out than the Lenovo extended battery. The cells are only in the rear case, front of case is empty.

My X60s has an official Lenovo (extended) battery from the Lenovo-Outlet.
On average I get 8:30 (yes, that's eight and a half) hours out of it.

I wouldn't recommend any of the aftermarket extended batteries because of this. if you only use your X6 tablet on a table or in your lap, it's not that bad. but if you hold it it's awkward. I switched to a 4-cell after the aftermarket battery ran out during class, and it was much more comfortable and the laptop felt a lot lighter too.
also @RealBlackStuff, the standard 4-cell sticks out, just not as much as the 8-cell or the aftermarket battery. it's maybe a half cm or so but still more than most batteries that are flush with the back of the computer. obviously there wasn't any room for the battery so lenovo probably had to do that anyway.
