X61 buttons, screen orientation switching with Windows 7

#1 Post by wireframewolf » Sun Aug 14, 2011 7:51 pm

Hey all. I just installed Windows 7 on this x61. For the most part it's amazing! No more lenovo crapware junking up my computer. It writes and draws as well as ever. But something I have to fix is the fact that the automatic screen orientation switching and the buttons that go with the LCD (direction, orientation, enter, esc, etc) don't work out of the box. Windows 7 appears to have figured everything else out on it's own, but I need to be able to go into portrait mode, and I find those buttons very functional when I don't have the keyboard. Does anyone know the specific drivers that are in charge of those things? I'm in no hurry to install a bunch of lenovos crap on here, so I'm looking for only the bare minimum of software I need to get those two things working. Thanks for you time :)

Awesome! That was a big help. Now even if I don't have automatic orientation going, I can just hit the button on there. I appreciate the help

I recommend getting getting system update 4, I had some trouble getting it to run, but once it did, it found all of the required drivers and utilities, and installed them fine. Of course, most of the utilities are useless, but the driver finder in it worked well for me. I think for the auto rotate to work, you need active protection and tablet shortcut menu
