Reassembled X61 after new LCD, now no status indicators
Not sure what I did wrong, but I purchased an entire LCD assembly (LCD, plus hinges and top), and successfully swapped out a cracked screen. After reassembling, the status indicators don't light, either on front, or top. The Wifi light does work. Any help troubleshooting this is appreciated...
Re: Reassembled X61 after new LCD, now no status indicators
The indicators are on the LVDS cable. So either it is not connected properly or tightly, or the cable is bad. Less likely but possible is a blown fuse on the systemboard.

So is the LVDS cable the main cable that goes from the LCD to the mainboard? If so, entirely likely that it's not seated properly and I will check...Harryc wrote:The indicators are on the LVDS cable. If it were a fuse, where are these, and I'm assuming they can be replaced?

Yes that is the cable. The fuses are on the systemboard. One of them around the LVDS cable connection on the systemboard would be suspect. They can be repaired but not replaced without special equipment. In other words you can solder a new fuse over the new one, but it is difficult to remove a blown fuse and solder in a new one.kennyschiff wrote:

It all depends on how much you use or like the indicator LEDs. Try a new cable, they should be plentiful and cheap on EBay.kennyschiff wrote:Not sure how much of a show stopper this is...

I would assume this will require me disassembling the LCD and frame? yes? not excited to do that...Harryc wrote: It all depends on how much you use or like the indicator LEDs. Try a new cable, they should be plentiful and cheap on EBay.
