Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
Ever since I reinstalled windows 7, I've had keyboard trouble. Its was fine for a while, but after I used TVSU to install some updates i've had troubles. The keyboard stops responding around 15 minutes in, and also stops responding upon resuming from sleep. Replacing the keyboard doesn't help, and I have none of these problems under linux. Rolling back the "Thinkpad Tablet Keyboard and Buttons" driver doesn't help. Any idea on what could be causing this?
EDIT: And the trackpoint works through all of this

Re: Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
Any red flagged events from around the time of the keyboard freezes in the system log? If not, you're basically stuck with reinstalling from scratch and then applying TVSU updates one at a time until you find the culprit. You're also working against the fact the W7 is/was never a supported OS on any X6X machine. If the problem does not occur in safe mode, you could also then employ msconfig to eliminate drivers one at a time, assuming it's a driver problem. Also, here's a thread that talks about the mouse/trackpoint driver causing the same issue on an X61. Try uninstalling or upgrading it.

Re: Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
FWIW, I'm running Win7 Pro x64 on my X61s and have all Thinkpad system updates installed that were offered and my keyboard has never frozen. I suspend/resume frequently.

Re: Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
Nothing shows up in the system log at all. I think I'll do that, thankfully my MSDN subscription is still good for a while longer. I've installed W7 on many X6x systems(regular and tablet) and this is the first time i've had this happen. It just happened to happen to my main machine
EDIT: So, I reinstalled a fresh copy of W7 64bit(reformatted everything) and without installing anything, I still get the same problems I was earlier, but now stuff is starting to show up in the error reporting log. Now, I get a bunch of "8/26/2011 5:44 AM Windows Error Reporting Fault bucket , type 0

EDIT2: Just for fun, I reinstalled windows xp on it. I only installed 3 things on it: firefox, video drivers, and .net 4.0 The keyboard still doesn't work after system resume. I tried the keyboard on an X60 tablet running 7, and it worked fine. I'm now starting to believe that this is a hardware problem

Re: Keyboard stops responding randomly/after system resume
Hi Tom,
were you able to figure anything out? My x60t's keyboard just stopped working. Tried switching with another keyboard, same problem. Do I need a new motherboard? Thank you
