X60s WWAN

#1 Post by dwilsonfl » Mon Sep 05, 2011 6:24 pm

I have an X60s and the clearplate has the symbol for the WWAN but I don't see the card show up. May be a previous owner took it out. How would I tell if the antennas are there?

And if the WWAN card is out, what are the choices for Verizon?

Thanks,

David

What happens if you hit FN-F5 on the keyboard. Does the WWAN antenna activate icon show up?

The dialogue box pops up and tells me the 802.1 wireless is on

WWAN Antennas:
If the right side of your LCD casing has the "bump" shown in the picture below, then you have the primary WWAN antenna (red band at end of cable):

If not, then you need to install the antenna.

The auxiliary antenna is located at the front right corner under the palmrest. It is the circuit board with the blue wire, shown in the picture below. It is mounted rotated 90 degrees clockwise from the orientation in the picture:

EV-DO Card:
Determine if you have the second miniPCIe connector under the palmrest. If yes then you can install a card.
The Verizon card for the X60s is the Lenovo-branded Sierra Wireless MC5720 (EV-DO Rev.0):

Note: If you install a modified BIOS, then you can use any Verizon miniPCIe EV-DO card, such as an MC5725 (EV-DO Rev.A):
