External monitor will not detect x60

#1 Post by MeCasa » Sun Sep 11, 2011 9:27 am

My x60 1708 5MU with XP will not detect Dell SP2309W monitor. I have downloaded and installed new drivers 79oi26ww from Lenovo with no results. Reading the Readme I should be able to go to Desktop Properties > Settings > Monitor > select Plug and Play from monitor list.

But under Monitor settings all I have is "Use default settings"

When I look under 'adapter' > adapter type > properties > the device type is Non plug and play drivers

Now I'm sad, I clicked on disable drivers and lost even my onboard screen and now I can't even get in my laptop, how do I re-enable my video drivers?

Press F8 a few times during boot.
That should get you a menu to start in Safe Mode, with an option to boot without video drivers.
Then, when you are 'back on your feet' install the Presentation Director to get the new monitor up and running.
Lovely day for a Guinness! (The Real Black Stuff)
