Got a x60 at Market Place here a little while ago, just for kicks, I picked up a 60G OCZ. Cloned the drive using Norton Ghost 12, but I am not able to boot off it. I got the usual TP screen, then just a cursor and no Windows.
Got into setup and ran drive test, no problem, so connections are fine. Put the drive in a drive dock, and everything appeared to be copied. I did use the copy MBR option, so boot track should be copied. Wonder if anybody may have ideas. I am only using around 12G, so space is not a problem. I am on the original BIOS, circa 2006, unless there are compelling reasons, I usually do not reflash, especially on used systems.
x60 and SSD
Re: x60 and SSD
If you did not place the SSD in the primary drive bay of the X60 while cloning to it, then what you describe is possible, even likely. It sounds like there may be a problem with the MBR or the "geometry" of the new drive. To end up with a bootable drive after cloning, place the SSD drive in the primary drive bay, and then start the cloning operation from the old drive ("outside") to the new drive ("inside").
Re: x60 and SSD
Thanks for the tip, unfortunately, I was not able to boot off my drive from a USB dock (booting off same usb port with CD is fine). I connected both my usb CD and drive dock, booted off my Norton Ghost CD, it sees both drives with all the contents (SSD in x60 and the old drive in dock), but unfortunately, Ghost does not provide a drive copy function under the CD boot. More tips will be greatly appreciated.
