Battery life on second hand x61t

I'm looking at buying a refurbished x61t on ebay, the seller states they are supplied with an 'original' extended battery - I am expecting this is likely to be long past it's prime if it's the one the machine was originally supplied with. Can anyone using their original battery comment on how it performs now?

Beyond this, are good quality 'new' batteries available anywhere?

Thanks

Battery and Lottery are almost identical, you either win or you lose.
There are no rules for battery life, but if you take care of them, they can last up to 5 years and more.
In the US there is the Lenovo Outlet http://outlet.lenovo.com/ where refurb'd batteries are sold for about 1/2 price of a new one.
Tons of aftermarket batteries are available on eBay, most are of doubtful origins and rather unreliable.
