X61T - Broken/Cracked Hinges, Repair Options in Palestine..?

The hinge made two loud cracking sound yesterday when I was closing it. Now, it can still hold its position beyond 45-degree, but feels much looser than before. Afraid that it's just a matter of time before it totally gives up.

As a precaution, I'm using something (well, a water bottle) to stabilize it in the opened position.

I'm thinking whether to get it fixed now, or wait till I'm back to Hong Kong (which would, Insha'Allah, be in 2012)...

Option 1: Wait till I get back to Hong Kong.
Option 2: Seek professional help - Where's the nearest local service centre?
Option 3: Order a set of hinge to be shipped here and fix it myself.

Lend me your insight, please.

Cheers.

I do not know where the repair center in Palestine is. I know where it is in Israel, the question is which side of the border you're on and how free you are to cross it...

Is your laptop in warranty? If not, an out-of-warranty repair is bound to be insanely expensive, and you're far better off ordering a set of hinges and replacing them yourself if you have the know-how.

Good luck.

Ah yes, I forgot... It's out of warranty... Anyway, is the service centre in Jerusalem or Tel Aviv...?

Think I'll fix it myself......

Cheers.

The service center is not far from Tel-Aviv, and they have pickup/drop-off points in Jerusalem, Haifa and Beer-Sheva.

But fixing it yourself is probably the best choice.
