Sending a DM and posting on threads
Hi,
I'm new to this forum and I signed up here recently on seeing a very attractive advert in the buying/selling forum. I want to send a DM to the seller but it looks like the feature is disabled for me. I read the FAQs and forum rules but I didn't see any point discussing these disabled DMs. Also, I cannot find a link to contact a forum moderator.
Even when I post on the selling thread, my replies don't appear immediately as I think they need to manually be reviewed by a moderator before they are approved?
I don't want to break any of the forum rules and get banned etc., but can someone please help me post and DM here like a "normal" user?
Best regards

Re: Sending a DM and posting on threads
These are minor restrictions against new members, put in place to protect the forum from spammers and scammers. The first posts must be approved manually by a mod, as you observed. This review process allows detecting those potential spammers and scammers early on, and disapproving their posts (or deactivating their accounts altogether).
This will somewhat hinder the experience of legitimate new members, but we see this as a small necessary evil, as the aforementioned harassments have increased recently.
We do try to approve valid posts ASAP. There are team members in different time zones, so you should never get stuck for too long. Your most recent post in the 'for sale' has just been approved, BTW.

Re: Sending a DM and posting on threads
Thanks for the reply and for authorizing my other post. I can understand the restrictions that have been put in place to provide a better experience to legit members and to prevent scammers.
Is there a way for me to ask permissions to be able to respond to incoming PMs? I'm not looking to compose a new message, just respond to the one received so that I can ask the seller for PayPal details, email address etc.
Appreciate the good work the mod team is doing
Best regards

Re: Sending a DM and posting on threads
Sorry to re-open an old thread. I can see that I'm not able to send PMs yet. They are just sitting in my outbox. What do I need to do for that?
Edit: No worries! I read in another post that it will sit there until the recipient reads the message
