Dismantling the ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 (model 4337)

Hello all,

Long time listener, first time caller.

I have a ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3 with a spring that is too stiff, causing problems with the connectivity when a computer is docked. I tried to open it so that I can soften the spring, but hit a brick wall.
I removed all the screws I could find at the the bottom and the back panel of the docking station, but the bottom part of the plastic case would still not part from the top of the plastic case. I even looked under some of the various stickers for more screws, but found nothing. Can anyone please help with pointers on dismantling this docking station?

I've searched all over the web (and this forum) and was unable to find any useful details.

Thanks,
Asaf

I think this video will help you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Feev_4DzfVI The part I believe you care about starts around 4 minutes and 10 seconds in. The important part is when the screws are out of the back and out of the bottom, there are still screws underneath the "docking cover" - the cover around the dock connector itself (and is held on by 3 clips). The video itself isn't the greatest because he sits the camera down a lot as he doesn't have a tripod. But I think you will get the gist of it and he shows everything after he's disassembled a part...

Good luck.

Great, yea, I have the same dock except the version for mobile workstations with the 135 watt power adapter, so I had a vested interest in checking this out as you never know if I'll need to do something with mine. :) Good luck.
